Clearer next step
The bar at the bottom now tells you the next step and takes you there, the dish to tap next gives a soft blink, a save that fails says so with a Try again button, and a short walkthrough shows new people how SwipeSplit works.
Product updates
Verified improvements, written plainly. Newest first.
Receipt photos are now kept for 30 days to improve scanning, then deleted. Entries below from before September 2026 describe the earlier policy.
The bar at the bottom now tells you the next step and takes you there, the dish to tap next gives a soft blink, a save that fails says so with a Try again button, and a short walkthrough shows new people how SwipeSplit works.
On a table, a name typed under Add someone without the app is no longer wiped when the table updates before you tap Add.
On iPhone, every table now offers Apple Cash with short steps, even when the host has not added it. The ways you pay are listed first, Venmo opens its website when the app is not on your phone, and the Save button on your account page says Saved when it worked.
The bottom line of every swipesplit.app page now shows where to find SwipeSplit on social media, starting with @swipesplit on Instagram.
There is now a Donate button at the bottom of swipesplit.app: pick any amount and it goes straight into keeping SwipeSplit running. The Shop link is in the phone footer too.
The bottom of swipesplit.app now puts everything in one place: the guides, your account, Founding members, the Shop, both app stores and SwipeSplit on Instagram.
The App Store and Google Play buttons on the SwipeSplit home page and the Get the app page are now the official badges at the same size, sharp on every screen.
The SwipeSplit wink is back to the version Joel approved: the halves part, melt into one gold circle, hold, and wink. It plays when the app opens and when your table settles.
The SwipeSplit wink snaps instead of smearing: the halves click into one gold circle, the eye shuts and pops open, and the logo glides home without the screen going grey.
The home screen puts Scan the receipt front and center, shows your open table as a filling circle, and adds a Did you know? fact. Setup tucks into one tap.
While SwipeSplit loads, the logo winks and a ring fills, and a fun fact about splitting the bill shows up with its source. When it's ready, the logo glides into place.
When your table is finalized or settled, the SwipeSplit wink now fills the screen like the launch screen, so you can't miss it. Tap anywhere to skip it.
Hosts can review the table, finalize the amounts, then check off payments as they arrive. A compact checklist keeps received and outstanding amounts clear.
On the web, your share and the table's remaining items stay together at the bottom of the claim list. Your total updates as you claim or unclaim, with Review my items always within reach.
Explore hanging tee designs that turn toward you, then tap for a closer look. The hat opens in its own view, and preview-only designs are clearly marked.
Browse the tee, hat and stickers together, then tap an item for a closer look. Return to the collection anytime while your cart stays with you.
On the web, paste or type a table link, claim items with clearer controls, and see the next step for your group. Guest changes now refresh completion controls when saving finishes.
Explore the tee with a front-and-back design preview, switch to its product photo, and shop the hat and stickers in a refreshed store. Choose your size and add your favorites to the same cart.
If you tap the × on a receipt item by accident, an Undo button now brings it back for a few seconds.
Hosts get a Remind button next to Mark paid that opens Messages with the amount, the dishes and the table link already typed. Full dish names now wrap to two lines on the list, and Venmo now opens the app from Chrome and Safari on iPhone.
Signing in with Google on Android now brings you straight back into SwipeSplit instead of stopping on a blank page.
The Continue with Google and Continue with Apple buttons now show the Google and Apple logos, so it is obvious what you are tapping. On Android, sign-in shows Google only.
The first-run tour now shows a small picture of each step: the receipt being scanned, friends tapping their items, and the one-tap Venmo payback. The sheet stays the same size on every step, and the Snap the receipt tips match it.
When the host covers items nobody claimed, the final split now lists them as their own line, so the amounts add up to the receipt. It no longer says every item was claimed.
Tapping into a new step, like reviewing your items or editing the receipt, now opens it from the top instead of partway down. Buttons that point somewhere, like See who's paid, take you straight there. Receipt mistakes now show next to the field.
Sending feedback on a phone no longer zooms the app in, and the keyboard waits until you tap the box.
Android phones can now get the SwipeSplit app from Google Play. The home page and the download page show a Get it on Google Play button.
Typing in the feedback box should no longer leave your phone zoomed in, so a finished table stays the right size instead of sliding sideways. Tapping "Add a way to get paid" now takes you straight to the pay fields.
Add friends who don't have the app, then text each one their share with your pay links in one tap.
A table with just you now shows the right totals and a clean final screen.
Shipping is now free on every shop order in the US. The tee and hat are $34 and the sticker sheet is $13, shipping included.
Sign in to keep your pay handles and your tables after they close, and your name fills in when you join.
Checkout now opens its own page, you get an order confirmation page and email, and we email your tracking link when your order ships.
Every screen now tells you what to do next, with an I'm done button and a clearer way to send friends the link.
Add a tee, hat and sticker sheet to one cart and pay right on swipesplit.app/shop, with one flat $5 shipping charge per order.
Rep the app at your next dinner. Get the SwipeSplit tee, a hat or a sticker pack at swipesplit.app/shop. Everything is printed to order, with flat $5 US shipping.
In the app, snap a long receipt in up to three photos and SwipeSplit reads them together, without counting a line twice.
Add your Apple Cash phone or email, and friends on iPhone can pay you right from Messages with the amount already typed.
When you finish claiming, your share shows big with every way to pay the person who covered the bill. Hosts see who's still picking and what's left, and choose who covers anything nobody claims.
In the app, Scan opens your phone's document scanner, which finds the receipt, straightens it and crops it for you. Anywhere, you can turn a sideways photo before re-scanning.
Scans now check themselves against the receipt's printed total and take a second, closer look when they don't match. If something still doesn't add up, we tell you before you share.
SwipeSplit now runs on older Android phones and iPhones on iOS 15 and up. Some older phones couldn't open a table before.
Your open table sits at the top of Home with your share, plus Owed to you and You owe. Scan a receipt and the restaurant fills itself in. Every receipt helps build the restaurant's menu. Payers add their own pay handles, and Cards follow your receipt tabs.
Bring your +1: shared dishes count your whole party and you still pay once. Add up to 3 receipts to one table and everyone gets one amount and exactly who to pay. Room for 60 people, a new claim list with Left, Mine, search and dish pictures, splitting a dish with a few friends, and menu pre-fill.
Scanned receipts now pick up delivery, service and small-order fees as their own line, shared like tax and tip, so the table total matches what was paid. You can add or fix fees by hand in the editor.
Big Venmo, Cash App and Zelle buttons on the payment page, opening the app with the amount filled in. Zelle copies the number and tells you what to do next. Hosts see who's paid at a glance, and can finalize the table in one tap once everything is claimed.
SwipeSplit now draws the pictures for a table's dishes the moment the table is set, and loads the whole deck at once, so cards come up with their picture instead of a placeholder. While a picture is on its way you see a soft shimmer.
A List | Cards switch now sits at the top of the claim screen, so it's clear which view you're in and how to flip. And a brand-new dish's picture now shows up on the first card instead of only the later ones.
The footer now shows the version, like v1.2.1, and in the iPhone and Android apps the build number too. Handy when you send us feedback.
In the iPhone app, the SwipeSplit name no longer runs into the Sign in link on inner pages. On phones the logo alone takes you home, and a long account name is trimmed instead of pushing things around.
When the whole table is settled, the two halves of the logo now come together, like a handshake, before it winks. Another idea from our friend Joel Mejia.
There is now one place to get SwipeSplit: swipesplit.app/get. It shows the App Store badge, a Google Play badge that switches on when the Android app is live, and a free option to use it in your browser. On an iPhone or Android phone, the right choice moves to the top.
Tap 👍 or 👎 under a dish picture, or pick the right one from a few choices.
The SwipeSplit logo now gives a quick wink when your table is settled. Android phones also get a font that looks much closer to the iPhone's.
If a restaurant figured the tip on the total with tax, SwipeSplit now says so, like Tip (18% of total with tax), instead of showing a confusing number. Scanned receipts also pick up service charges and auto-gratuity as the tip, and the tip buttons note that they tip on the food, before tax.
When a receipt already includes a tip, SwipeSplit now shows its percent next to it, like Tip (20%), on the table total and on your share. The claim screen also has more breathing room, so Edit my items and Confirm someone is done are easier to tap.
Scanned items now show a clean, readable name, and a small "On receipt" line under it shows exactly what the receipt printed, so you can always check it against the paper. Cards can also show a little picture of the dish.
Add someone who isn't on SwipeSplit and claim their items for them, then choose whether you cover them or they pay separately. Tap Everyone had this for plates the whole table shared.
Tap Send feedback and add a picture of what you're seeing. JPEG, PNG and GIF work, and iPhone photos convert automatically. A quick, invisible check keeps spam out.
SwipeSplit no longer downloads its backup receipt reader in the background when you open it in Safari. The page loads lighter on cellular, and the reader still loads if a scan ever needs it.
Tap Send feedback at the bottom of the page and pick Bug, Idea or Question. You can include a screenshot of what you're seeing, so we can fix things faster.
When you enter a receipt by hand, the price, tax, tip and discount boxes now start empty. Before, typing a price could land after a pre-filled 0.00 and the item was skipped.
SwipeSplit for Android is in Google Play review. You'll see it on the home screen next to the App Store badge, and we'll turn it into a download link once Google approves it. Android friends can already split in any browser.
Claim receipt items from a list, keep Review within reach, and see larger final amounts for everyone at the table.
SwipeSplit is live on the App Store. A new homepage announcement makes it easy to get the iPhone app.
Download SwipeSplit for iPhone from the App Store. The website now links directly to the released app.
Items now open in a list, with swipe cards still available when you want them. Final amounts are larger so everyone can quickly see their share.
The home page and What's New now show real, readable text to search engines and to anyone browsing without JavaScript — including a short "How it works" explainer right under the scan buttons, so what a visitor sees matches what a search engine finds.
Four new guides answer common questions about Apple's Split Bill feature: splitting without Apple Cash, splitting with Android friends, why the option may not show up, and when Apple's feature is the better pick.
Once you claim your first item, a bar stays at the bottom of the screen with your item count and your share so far. Tap it to review. No more scrolling past a long receipt to find the button.
Your phone now gives a small buzz when a scan lands, a table is ready, or everyone has claimed. Buttons no longer flash or select text when you tap them, and the keyboard offers Next and Done in the right places. A scan you walked away from can no longer change the receipt you moved on to.
No receipt handy? Tap "Try a sample receipt" on the home screen and a dinner for the table appears, ready to split. Nothing is uploaded. Change anything you like, then set the table to see how it works.
If you refresh the page or your phone closes the tab while you're fixing up a receipt, your items are still there when you come back. Tables also check in less often when the signal is bad, and the backup scanner now loads ahead of time so it's ready when you need it.
If a scan or a save is taking too long, SwipeSplit now gives up on its own and tells you, and a Cancel button appears so you're never stuck waiting. If something breaks, you get a Reload button instead of a blank screen.
SwipeSplit now tells you when your connection drops or gets weak, and refreshes the table on its own when you're back online. If the app ever hits an error, it sends us a short technical report so we can fix it. The report never includes your receipt, names, or payment details.
When a table is finished, guests now get a one-tap way to start their own split next time.
We keep receipt photos for 30 days to find and fix scans that read wrong, then delete them. Nothing is linked to you.
In the iPhone app you can now swipe from the left edge or tap the back arrow to go to the previous screen, and your claims stay put. Receipt lines like "×3" are dealt as three separate cards, so you can claim just one.
On Android, one tap adds SwipeSplit to your home screen so it opens like an app at the table.
The Updates page now shows what we're working on now, next, and later. Founding members will get a say on what's next.
If you joined the founding list, Settings now shows your founding-member status once you sign in with the same email.
Have an iPhone? The beta is open on TestFlight. There's a link under the Home buttons and in the footer of every page. Native camera, share sheet, and the same tables as the web.
SwipeSplit goes live this month. Leave your email on the home screen and you'll have a seat at the Table, our paid tier, for life, plus 10,000 receipt scans, never a charge. Not now is always an option, and the card only asks once.
Receipt scans avoid subtracting savings already included in item prices. You can still adjust the discount before sharing your split.
Review your items, finish claiming, and let the host finalize everyone's shares. A consistent web and iPhone flow adds clearer connection status, payment rechecks when amounts change, and a shareable final summary.
SwipeSplit now has a plain-language privacy policy and terms of service, linked from every footer. Short version: receipt photos are read once and never stored, tables delete themselves after 24 hours, and accounts are optional and deletable in one tap.
SwipeSplit has a new mark: a plate split coral and gold. You'll see it in your browser tab, on your home screen, and in the preview card when you share a table link.
Scanning is simpler: one Scan a receipt button, and your photo is read once and never stored. If the AI reader is ever unavailable, on-device scanning takes over automatically.
On the item list, swipe right and a green Mine check grows under your finger; swipe left to leave it. It springs back if you change your mind, and the first card gives you a little nudge so you know it's there.
Join a table and the receipt is dealt to you as cards — swipe right for mine, left for not mine, undo anytime. Watch the table fill up live, and the moment everything's claimed, everyone's phone shows their share and how to pay.
The table now calls out any items nobody claimed, and once everything is claimed it turns into a settle-up list — who paid the bill, who has paid them back, and what's still owed. Tap "I've paid" when you've sent your share.
Tapping Scan a receipt or Choose a photo now opens your camera or photo library on every Android browser. If you opened SwipeSplit inside another app and the camera stays shut, a one-tap link reopens the page in Chrome so you can scan.
Two new pages explain scanning a receipt and splitting the check — claim what you ate, tax and tip to the cent.
Links to swipesplit.app now unfurl with a photo and description. www.swipesplit.app works too.
The table now shows the tax rate from the receipt — 10%, 8.25%, whatever the tax line comes to — next to the tax line, so everyone can see the rate their share is based on.
Your running total now shows the tax (and tip) that belongs to the dishes you picked — not an even split of the whole table's tax. If you haven't claimed anything, you owe none.
The app now lives at swipesplit.app. Links and QR codes you already shared keep working — they send people to the new address automatically.
AI receipt scanning is free while we grow — scanning costs us real money on every receipt, and we cover it so your table splits perfectly. If the day's free AI scans ever run out, SwipeSplit switches you to the private on-device scan automatically, tells you honestly, and everything keeps working.
You can now optionally sign in with Apple or Google to save your pay handles and display name across devices — no account is ever required, and guests still join without one. Your pay handles follow you instead of living on one phone.
Scanning a receipt now uses our AI reader every time for the most accurate read — your photo is processed once and never stored. Prefer to keep it fully local? A private on-device scan is one tap away, and if the AI reader is ever unavailable, the on-device scan takes over automatically.
Hosts can now add their Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or Apple Cash under Get paid back — and every guest sees a pay link for their exact share. Venmo and Cash App open with the amount prefilled; nothing moves through SwipeSplit and no account is needed.
The homepage was rebuilt for phones — a cleaner first screen with the scan button right under your thumb and smooth, subtle animations — and the footer now has What's new and a Send feedback link so you can tell us what to build next.
Every line now shows an editable quantity and unit price — scans read the printed count automatically, and the line total updates as you adjust either.
Enhanced Scan now reads iPhone photos that previously failed before upload, and the on-device scan no longer drops real menu items or mistakes receipt totals for food.
An optional Enhanced scan sends your receipt photo once for a smarter AI read — clearly opt-in, and the photo is never stored. On-device scanning stays the default.
You can now choose an existing receipt photo from your library instead of only taking a new one with the camera.
Hosts can save receipt edits while people are claiming, shared table links preview correctly in messaging apps, and every SwipeSplit page now has stronger on-device privacy protection.
SwipeSplit now filters low-confidence receipt details instead of turning them into food, and the receipt editor gives every item more room on small screens.
After checking a receipt, start claiming your items or open the link and QR code so everyone can swipe what they ordered on their own phone.
Scan a restaurant receipt, share a QR code, and let everyone claim what they ate. SwipeSplit divides tax, tip, discounts, and shared dishes down to the cent.
